How it works
A short explanation of where documents are processed, why browser-based processing is more private than typical online converters and how the free limit works.
Why most files stay off the server
Most PDF operations run directly on your device using browser APIs and WebAssembly. The source document does not need to be uploaded to a remote storage service.
The trade-off is that very large documents use your device memory. A desktop computer is generally more comfortable for heavy files than a phone.
How this differs from a typical online converter
Traditional online converters upload the document, process it remotely and return a download link. Here, browser-based tools skip that upload step. Tools that do require server processing clearly say so before the file is sent.
Limitations
- Password-protected PDFs may need to be unlocked first.
- Very large files can exceed browser memory limits.
- OCR for scanned text is available as a browser-based tool.
Free usage
Free browser tools with no result limit.
Each tool has its own counter. Uploading a file or processing it without downloading a result does not consume an additional result.
FAQ
Do you store my files?
Browser-based tools do not upload the source file, so there is nothing for the service to store.
What counts as one result?
The first download of a newly generated result.
Do I need to register?
No registration is required for the free browser tools.
